POEM TO WELDON
Destinova

My tears run hot over my cheeks
Diving between my lips
My eyes sting and flame
My heart explodes like a grenade in my chest
I want to lay down and die in the shrapnel

My son, you were conceived of an accident
I concealed all my feelings in an unuttered place
Until I saw you born
You looked tiny, red, and raw
No ruby ever made me fling such tears of absolute joy

I cried tears of flame, I couldn't stop
Nor did I want to
You brought forth an instant epiphany
The most beautiful thing my eyes ever beheld
Beside your cradle I laid my life before your tiny feet

Tears of my pride stained your onesie
One day you held your head high
You looked straight into my eyes
You humbled me with your love
You made me as a child in the bath when we played Baby Tugboat

A mild Winter wrapped winds of love around me
Then just before Spring you went away while I slept
I haven't stopped crying
I haven't stopped loving your tiny smile
Red hot tears sear my eyes blind for Weldon.
